Lisa made the booking and all the arrangements so easy, and took great care of us. We’ve stayed here before and will definitely return. It’s a beautiful property, with good golf, food, and drink options close by. Seems especially suited to families or larger groups.

The dinner at the golf lounge was a joke, €12 for a cup of soup and a very limited menu. WiFi kept dropping, and the TV was still logged into someone else’s Netflix, so I’m sorry, your viewing history now includes what we watched. There was no guest mode, casting, or live TV channels. The room was clean and modern, but tiny and sterile. Even with hundreds of acres around the property, there was space for only one suitcase before you’d trip over it. The shower had modern thermostatic controls, yet the temperature kept fluctuating. The door also blocked the controls, so adjusting it meant getting wet. There was barely any vanity space, just the sink edge for a toothbrush. And why don’t Irish buildings have bathroom fans? For the least memorable stay of our two weeks in Ireland, this place had no personality and felt like a grand country club from the suburbs of the USA moved to Dublin. It’s called being “at the castle,” but you drive well past a castle and end up in a Holiday Inn style room overlooking only the side lawn. I’d suggest finding a B&B if you want something authentically Irish.

The rooms were very clean, and the staff were friendly. The food was just okay, though, and there was no atmosphere on the Saturday bank holiday, not even background music. At breakfast the next morning, I had to ask twice for plates for the self service. The shower water was lukewarm at best.

Lunch was a treat, with tasty food and portions so huge that next time my wife and I would probably share one. We liked the view over the golf course, and the staff were pleasant and attentive. It was our first visit, and the location is great. The only catch is the drive from the main road entrance to the clubhouse feels like it takes seven years. Still, the pristine course on both sides makes it not half bad! 👍
