Doonmore Hotel

We’re already looking forward to booking another stay soon. Andrew and Donna looked after us warmly throughout our wonderful visit, and their hospitality made it feel extra special. One evening, a fantastic band visiting from Alaska played Bluegrass. I’m afraid I can’t remember their name, but they were outstanding and created such a brilliant atmosphere. It was one of those nights you wish could go on a little longer.

A few nights at Murray's Doonmore Hotel were a refreshing way to unplug from the tumultuous world. Inishbofin’s rugged scenery feeds the soul, and a hearty, memorable meal at the Doonmore fills the stomach. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and they can do your laundry and have it back the same day, so there’s no need to pack loads of clothes. The weather takes a bit of Irish luck. It can be windy, cold and drizzly, but not for long. In the evenings, local musicians play Celtic instruments and sing bards in the Doonmore's bar, and the music draws listeners in. We also enjoyed renting bikes from Patty and pedalling safely along carless paths with scenic views.

The staff were excellent, and when I asked for a few special things off the menu, they accommodated me. Our group had breakfast and dinner here every day during our weeklong tour. We also had nightly concerts at the facility, then headed to the bar for jam sessions with local musicians joining in. Best hotel on Inishbofin, and in the best location on the island.

We had a gorgeous trip to Doonmore Hotel in April as part of a big family holiday. Donna and Andrew were so accommodating, especially with a few kids in our group. The atmosphere was lovely, the rooms clean and quiet, and the location gorgeous. Excellent service too. Highly recommend.
