The Killarney Park

Colin made our arrival after a long day of travel easy, taking care of our luggage and valet parking and showing us around the property. His tips were useful as we planned time around the Ring of Kerry and Killarney. Codey also helped make check-in smooth. We were so grateful for the room upgrade, the lovely decor and architectural details, and the handwritten birthday note and cake for my daughter. It was the most impressive hotel room we’ve stayed in. We came to Ireland to celebrate her 20th birthday, and staying at the Killarney Park Hotel was even better than we’d imagined. The design, location, and attention to detail were wonderful, and the staff were attentive and professional throughout. Our first-night dinner at the Garden Bar was a treat, thanks to Kiran, and we enjoyed the pianist too. Norma, Tim, and the rest of the team arranged a nicely packed breakfast with bottled water for our very early trip back to Dublin Airport. Their thoughtfulness meant a lot. We’ll definitely return. The staff are so kind and welcoming, and nothing felt like too much trouble. The rooms were wonderfully quiet, and I liked having everything computerised. The hotel looks beautiful after the upgrade work. That arrival fruit punch was delicious too, I’d love to know the recipe.

The hotel is luxurious throughout, from the rooms and shared spaces to the bar, and the location is brilliant. Every person we dealt with was unbelievably pleasant. The staff are among the best I’ve encountered at a hotel, and that made a real difference to an otherwise lovely stay. We didn’t sleep well, though. We prefer a cool room and set the air conditioning to 18 degrees, but it didn’t cool the room. After we’d been asleep for about an hour, we’d find it had reset itself to 21 degrees. Opening the window barely helped, since it only opened a little for such a large room, and the hotel was warm elsewhere too. The night was very disrupted, when we’d hoped to leave rested. Maybe we were unlucky and the system was faulty, but sleep matters at a hotel, so we probably wouldn’t come back. We still had a very nice time apart from that, hence the 4 stars.

The New Year package was generous, with free-flowing champagne at a reception and a delicious meal in The Peregrine. We spent two nights here over New Year, and the renovated rooms look stunning. The service really makes the stay. Staff remembered both our names and the children’s, and kept going out of their way to make sure everything ran smoothly. It really feels like a 5 star stay.
