Ardboyne Hotel

The room price for two nights, including breakfast, was very reasonable, especially for a Saturday and Sunday stay. The bedroom was as described, with plenty of sockets and charging points, and we slept well with the small window open in May, even when it was down to 6C at night. Staff were friendly and helpful, and everything else was lovely, though I would have liked a bigger TV. There was a mix-up after our first night. We had breakfast, went back for a snooze with the do not disturb sign on the door, then housekeeping woke us to say it was checkout time. We explained we had paid for another night. Later, after lunch, our card no longer worked. It seems the system only showed one night, but we were given a new card and that sorted it. I’d be happy to come back, but I’d worry about sleeping there in July or August. Only one small window opens and there’s no AC, so I think it might get too hot for me.

The bed was comfortable, the linens were nice, and the staff member who checked me in was lovely. I also had a coffee machine in my room, and lots of friends staying with me had one in theirs too. The main problem was noisy work starting very early on bank holiday Monday. We were only away for one night, so being woken up that early was frustrating, especially as it went on for hours and we hadn’t been warned. We got food on checkout day. There was a nice choice on the menu, but service was a bit slow and the food arrived a little cold.

We brought 10 seniors for afternoon tea to celebrate this afternoon, and had a wonderful time. The staff were accommodating and outstanding in every detail. There was plenty of fresh, delicious, colourful food. I highly recommend Ardboyne.

Jo and her staff made last Friday’s retirement dinner memorable. The Taylor Suite looked beautiful, and the decor, setting and atmosphere were lovely. The food was superb, with nothing to fault. I’d gladly recommend the venue for an event.
