Ginger Ahmedabad SG Road

I wouldn’t choose Ginger Hotel, SG Highway again after this disappointing stay. The room and facilities need significant maintenance and upgrades. The property feels old and not properly cared for. In roughly 44°C heat, the air conditioning barely cooled and felt more like a cooler. Staff told me it would cool properly after 20 minutes, but the problem remained throughout my two day stay, around 48 hours. The bathroom was in poor shape too: the shower didn’t work properly, and the toilet spray leaked from several points. Using it often splashed water onto my clothes, which was inconvenient. The staff were polite, but the room’s condition and facilities didn’t meet expectations, especially in Ahmedabad’s weather.

The staff were courteous, helpful, and supportive, and after the first day my stay went smoothly. The room I was initially given didn’t meet expectations, but when I raised the issue they promptly changed it. The complimentary breakfast was below expectations, with limited options. Based on my past stays at other Ginger Hotels, I expected better variety and quality. It seemed the breakfast cost was included in the bill and simply called “complimentary”; the spread and experience didn’t justify that. Aside from breakfast, the stay was comfortable and well managed.

I don’t know if I’ll sleep well tonight. For what they charge, the room was filthy. I called reception five times, and housekeeping came only once. The person said it was completely clean, but with my dust allergy I could still feel dust in the air. I made the mistake of taking a hand towel and cleaning the walls myself. The picture I uploaded shows just one wall near the bed and AC. The sheets looked new, but still had visible stains, the mattress was dusty, and there were stains all over the floor, almost as if someone had vomited. I was shown one room, offered a different one first, and then given a final room because of the apparent problems. I can’t believe I stayed somewhere this poorly maintained. The property has potential, but it’s managed and maintained terribly. Nothing can really save it without a change in the entire crew.

The rooms aren’t very clean, and the ambience doesn’t make this feel like a three star hotel. The complimentary breakfast wasn’t good either. I booked for two days, but used only half a day, or even just an hour, and they still applied what I consider a fake cancellation policy and wouldn’t refund even a minimum amount.
