I stayed with my family at Hotel Chanakya for a few hours before an event in another city. Our travel from Ahilyanagar (formerly Ahmednagar) was scheduled for around 1 AM, so the limited amenities weren’t a big concern. The night became frightening when a staff member who seemed heavily drunk banged loudly on our door around midnight. He spoke in an extremely inappropriate way and even suggested that we let two more people stay in our room. I confronted him sternly and he left, but it left us distressed and unable to sleep. The room also had mosquitoes, and the staff did nothing after we complained. We felt our money was wasted. Waiting on the footpath would honestly have been better. I regret staying here. The staff were drunk and rowdy, banging on doors at night and making deeply offensive remarks despite us being with family. A truly bad experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.

It’s a nice small hotel that doesn’t cost too much, and feels safe for women traveling alone. The rooms are spacious, as are the bathrooms. A good budget stay.

The rooms were clean, though a bit dated, and the staff were courteous. Service could have been quicker, and there wasn’t anything that made the stay stand out. Chanakya Hotel is a reasonable choice for a basic stay with standard amenities, as long as you aren’t expecting luxury or special features.

I stayed for 12 days and found the rooms quite good. Service was average, and there’s no restaurant attached. Parking is available, and it works as a budget stay.
