Sea shore

A month after we booked through Hostelworld, which the property itself had directed us to, we called and were told they had no booking and didn’t take reservations from online platforms. We’d already paid and lost the money. Not acceptable.

We’d been traveling all day in the heat and were craving parotta with chicken curry. Even though the restaurant was nearly closing and had run out of what it needed for parotta, they made a generous, delicious chicken curry from scratch for the two of us and arranged parotta from a nearby hotel. The people were among the most polite and hospitable I’ve met. The service and view were lovely too, and a friendly, beautiful cat made the visit even better. 12/10, I’d recommend it.

The room looked nothing like the Hostelworld photos. The fan was covered in black mould, the sheet had stains and holes, and the bed was rock hard. The route back to the room smelled of urine, and the sleeping area lobby was deserted and dirty, with clothes lying around. We left straight away. Getting help was difficult from the start: nobody was at the front lobby, so I went through a messy kitchen to find someone. They said the person who could assist wasn’t there, and I had to go around to the back of the building before someone showed us the room. We went down the street to Lemon Dew Beach house instead, which was great for nearly the same price, 1000 rupees for sea shore versus 1300 rupees for Lemon Dew. I really don’t know how this place got an 8.8 on Hostelworld. See the photos I posted.

The sea is beautiful, but the place wasn’t hygienic and the service wasn’t good.
