The roof area is covered, so parties can still be held there in the rainy season, and the place is easy to get to. We had a family function here and it worked really well, with plenty of space. The rooms are large and well maintained too.

The restaurant closed at 7.30pm without telling us. We got back from wandering around almora at 8pm, were told there was nothing for dinner, and had to go out again to find food. After lunch, I left the dishes outside my room and they sat there until 11pm. Service was poor throughout: the staff were rude, cleanliness was an issue, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work properly. The bathroom had a 3 watt cfl that barely lit it, there were no glasses, and the water jug was empty even after I asked twice for a refill. They gave us just two towels for three people. Breakfast was another letdown. Even with complimentary breakfast, they said they’d provide it for rs 135 and we’d have to pay the rest, and wouldn’t even give us two parantha and a tea. There wasn’t a single OYO signboard or OYO linen in the room. Very poor skills and customer service, and a big dissatisfaction with oyo.
Such a lovely place.
The rooms are spacious and simple, the staff are well-mannered, and the rates are affordable. Hotel Jay Continental works well for tourists who need a day’s rest in Almora before continuing to their destination. The food may not be the best, but the hotel and restaurant aren’t tied together, so there are nearby restaurants to choose from.
We had nothing to eat after 7.30pm because the in-house restaurant shut without warning, and I was starving all night. The chowemin was too oily and seemed to have been reheated and served after just three minutes. Wi-Fi kept disconnecting every minute, the bathroom lighting was very dim, and there were no hand towels. When I asked room service for a heater or blower in December, they said they didn’t have one. The tables, drawers, and gallery were dirty too. Worst OYO experience, with poor service. Don’t go there.
