Anjuna Emerald Guest House by OYO Rooms

We spent nearly 20 days at Emerald, and would happily stay there again on our next trip to Goa. It’s in a quiet neighborhood, about a 10-minute walk from the beach. The staff were very helpful and flexible, and breakfast and tea were available throughout the day. We really enjoyed our time at this guest house.

The price felt steep for what we got, and we ended up staying just one night. The room was fairly spacious and the AC worked well, but it wasn’t very clean. The walls, switches, towels, and floors all needed attention. Our balcony faced the back area, which wasn’t much to look at. Breakfast was decent, especially the eggs, but the toast came plain with no butter or jam. The continental breakfast was... well. There was no Wi-Fi in the room, Vodafone reception was terrible (I can’t speak for other providers), and the TV dish wasn’t working because there was no account balance. We were told our booking included a fridge, but there wasn’t one in the room. Hot water lasted about three minutes, enough for one person to shower, then we had to wait for it to heat again. When I asked how to turn it on, the man just said “ok” and left. I went back to the room, where my girlfriend was waiting with a towel on, and shortly after he knocked quickly and walked straight in without being invited. That was completely inappropriate.

I paid 600 rupees for a night after booking through OYO. It’s a good place to stay, though Anjuna beach is a bit farther away. Breakfast is available if you order it in advance.
