Amara Oceanfront Resort and Club Baga

There’s direct beach access from the hotel’s club area, so you can stroll by the sea at night. It’s close to Calangute beach, between Titos Lane 1 and 2, with the usual features of a regular hotel. Check-in is normally at 2PM, though an earlier time may be possible if you ask and a room is available. I’d choose the 1st floor for the sea breeze. Check that day’s buffet price and menu before signing up, since the price sometimes changes and the dishes may not suit you. Booking a few weeks ahead might get you a lower rate. Clubs around Amara can be noisy, but it dies down by 12am. I hope the renovation work finishes soon so the exterior looks even more attractive.

The room was not like the pictures, which was disappointing, though the location near Baga Beach was convenient. The final day made the stay much worse. After checkout, my partner needed the washroom, but the woman at the front desk said there were no washroom facilities and that we couldn’t use a room after checkout. As a woman, I found it very upsetting and insensitive to deny another woman such a basic necessity. The stay was mixed, but that last interaction left a very negative impression.

The staff were very helpful and let us leave our luggage and freshen up after checkout. The rooms didn’t all meet the 4-star standard, though. We had to switch rooms twice before settling into the third one, and its balcony door wouldn’t lock properly, so we had to sleep with it ajar.

The staff were excellent and we had a great experience overall. The beach shack was being built, though, so there was nowhere to sit by the beach. No complaints from us, just feedback. Thank you.
