Ashoka Grand

We stayed for 3 nights with family and had a 10/10 experience. A big thank you to the whole team at Ashoka Grand for making the trip so memorable. The rooms are beautiful and come in different categories, each with a distinct view and feel. We chose the valley view room, and it was mesmerizing. The views, delicious food, and warm hospitality made this a true sukoon getaway. Vipan was incredibly kind, gentle, and always ready to help. Caretakers Nagesh and Ajay were attentive and quick with service, and the chef knows how to delight guests with food. One heads-up, the property is about 12 km from Dalhousie on an offbeat route. The roads are narrow and need a skilled driver, but if you book a cab from Dalhousie or contact Vipan, they'll guide you smoothly, so nothing to worry about. Best time to visit is April to June or in winter, December to February. We visited in the first week of April and got both rainy and sunny weather.

The property is neat and tidy, and Vipin and the team were very courteous, managing every guest flawlessly. Breakfast was delicious, with poha, poori, and bhaturas, and the Himachali dal is a must try for lunch or dinner. The property is pretty good, though guests on the ground floor may be inconvenienced by movement upstairs. It's also 10kms from the main mall road.

The last 2 km to the hotel is a rough, bumpy dirt road, so drive slowly and carefully. Once there, we had a very comfortable, memorable stay at Ashoka Grand. The wooden cabins were cozy and the views beautiful. Rooms, bathrooms, hygiene, and fresh water were excellent. The staff were warm, helpful, and quick to respond. Food was tasty, a little spicy, with a great menu, and the tandoori dishes were especially good. The bonfires on two evenings were a lovely touch. We'd happily recommend it.

My family and I enjoyed the food a lot and had a memorable stay. I booked 3 rooms in different categories, and Close to Heaven was one of the best because of its valley view location.
