Hotel Grand Gaayatris

The single bedroom was Rs 1500 for one day. It was nice, with a good bathroom too, and all the hotel staff were good people.

The hotel is a few kilometres from Chennai Airport, on the road in Pallavspuram. Rooms are clean and good, and they provide a welcome kit with soap, shampoo, a toothbrush and paste, plus a one litre water bottle. All the staff seem genuine except one named Mani.

I’m glad I didn’t end up visiting, because even the phone call was horrible. I’d paid a 1000 advance for a room booked just 17 hours before check-in, then asked to cancel 10 hours before check-in, the previous day. They refused a refund, citing their “policies,” though I hadn’t been told about them beforehand. When I questioned that, the man yelled that every hotel has these policies, asked if I’d ever stayed in a hotel, and rudely demanded to know where I’d stayed and how much I’d paid. This isn’t about the money, it’s about how customers are treated. They need people who can handle customers properly. I wouldn’t recommend booking here. I’d give zero stars if that were possible.

The road view from the bed is nice, and the main road location makes check-in quick and easy. The room was clean, with a big comfortable bed, and the restroom was okay. But traffic and horns can be heard all the time since the windows aren’t soundproof, so it may not suit light sleepers. There’s hardly room for two people to sit and eat together. The restroom is tiny too, and has no clothes hanger.
