Joyous Rooms

Sunsets from here are stunning, and the location works really well for exploring Sohra, sitting neither too far south nor too far north. Orange Root restaurant is right next door, a real plus if you're vegetarian since it's only a couple of minutes on foot. Bob and his family were wonderful hosts, always available and quick to respond or help.

Joyous rooms is a simple place, with no luxury, but it's neat, clean and well located between the main tourist spots in Cherrapunji and Sohra. Food isn't served here, though Orange roots, a pure veg restaurant, is within walking distance. Hot water is available 24/7, and tea can be requested. The host was very cooperative and helpful. Thank you, Bob, for the lovely hospitality.

We spent two nights at Joyous Rooms during our Meghalaya trip and had a pleasant stay. It only offers accommodation, though the owner kindly provides tea and coffee on request. There's a family room with two beds and two couple rooms, with extra beds available if needed. The rooms were neat, and the bathrooms were especially spacious and clean. The owner was extraordinarily cordial and helpful, going out of their way to make us feel welcome. A clean, reliable place to stay in Sohra, and one I'd recommend.
