Nini Residency by OYO Rooms

The room was already a mess when I got the key: empty liquor bottles, used condoms, dirty sheets and linens, bugs in the bed, and a horrible toilet. The place felt gloomy and unsafe, and the staff at the desk were indifferent and terrible. The AC was broken, and after I’d paid for an AC room they asked for another 500 to turn it on. There was no TV either. I booked through OYO for 550, but at the hotel they came up with a story and demanded 2000. They told me to cancel in the app, and I only got a key after I did. I said I didn’t want that room, but they wouldn’t refund me because it was late. I had no option but to stay. They said they’d clean in the morning, but the room conditions were awful. I went with my girlfriend and they showed no consideration. Please don’t go there, especially if you want to feel safe.

We were still looking for somewhere to sleep at 3:30 a.m. after losing the night over this booking. The hotel is several kilometres off the main road, and we spent about ₹1500 on cabs going there, coming back, and finding another place. After we left, we couldn’t get a cab for a long time. We arrived around 1 a.m. and were refused check-in, even though I’d confirmed twice with Oyo customer care that a room was available. The receptionist wasn’t there and only answered by phone. He was rude, cut the call off, and told us to sort it out with Oyo. Customer care kept us on hold for several minutes, then offered a refund or another property 5 km away, but no real solution. Oyo and the hotel managers clearly weren’t communicating. Rooms seem to go to people who offer more, without Oyo being told, and operators say they’ve overbooked even when you booked early.

The hotel is in a remote area, and we had a really bad experience. The receptionist wouldn’t honor the OYO reference if the payment was below ₹1000. They said they don’t accept OYO bookings at that rate and pushed us to pay ₹1500 or more. OYO customer service wasn’t willing to help either. Please don’t book this hotel through OYO.

The room smelled strongly of cigarettes, and it looked as if the sheets, pillowcases and toilet hadn’t been cleaned after repeated use. The staff made me cancel my Oyo booking at check-in and took the payment directly. I’d already paid in full, but at 11 p.m., travelling with my parents and 3-year-old, I had no nearby room available and no real choice but to stay. We were travelling from Chennai to Ooty and needed a stop in Coimbatore because it had got late. Calling the hotel was a problem from the start: the staff were rude and gave no useful directions, then finally sent a location on WhatsApp. Near the property there was no hotel sign, and the map led us down a rough road to a pitch-dark street without a proper road. I would never visit this place again.
