Fairy Glen

We appreciated how clean and tidy everything was when we arrived. Daily cleaning and fresh towels or sheets aren’t included, though we didn’t need them since we were out exploring; I’m sure we could have asked. The garden is beautifully cared for, with flowers and fruit trees, and shops and restaurants are within walking distance. We stayed four nights with my husband, his parents, and our three-month-old, and it worked really well for the family. The two rooms each had a bathroom: one was spacious, with a very comfortable king bed and lovely sheets and pillows, while the smaller room had two twin beds. They also provided a lovely crib. We sometimes ordered breakfast or dinner and ate together at the dining table. The food was delicious, and you can request what you’d like. A beautiful place that felt like home while we were in Coonoor, and we’d recommend it.

We’re already looking forward to coming back. The Biryani at Fairy Glen had that homely taste and was the best we found in Nilgiris. The team also pointed us to Moddys icecream and Cherrie Berrie food, both of which we enjoyed. Uzma’s route advice led us past Madhumalai reserve, where we spotted the elusive tiger, and Nonsuch drive was another great outing. This family holiday came together at the last minute, but the team looked after us from booking until we got home. The stay was comfortable, and Nivas, Regina, and Fatima were always there when we needed help or advice. Nivas replied promptly at any time and helped with directions and local arrangements. Thanks to the whole Fairy Glen team for a memorable Coonoor trip.

Regina made the best veg biryani I’ve ever had, and Mr Niwas was quick to bring us whatever we needed. We really felt at home and would strongly recommend the cottage to anyone after a warm, luxurious stay in coonoor. It’s beautifully kept, with two large rooms that have modern amenities, a cosy feel, and a heritage touch from the shiny wooden floors and furniture. Outside, the huge manicured garden is full of colourful flowers, a lovely place to unwind.

The only real difficulty we had was getting there. The property is a little off the main road, and the approach is very narrow. When our Innova taxi arrived after sunset at about 7 pm on the first day, it got stuck for a few minutes in the dark stretch. Nivas, the caretaker, came to help and showed us a slightly longer but much easier route, with no further trouble from the next day. The house itself is lovely and well maintained, set amid lush greenery. Ms Uzma was kind and welcoming from the booking onward. Though she wasn’t there in person, she checked in regularly and suggested good places for food and sightseeing. Nivas, Regina, and Fatima were warm, capable staff, always ready to help, keeping the house clean and serving delicious home-cooked meals.
