Hotel Delhi Guest House

I had a nonrefundable Agoda booking made 12 hours earlier, but still wasn’t given a room. The receptionist didn’t seem to know the hotel accepted online bookings and had already sold all the rooms, so he told me to go to a partner hotel. Why should I have to go somewhere else? The hotel’s location on Agoda was wrong, as was the phone number listed there. The receptionist was confused, clueless, and rude, which made me lose my temper, but it didn’t help. At the other hotel, he couldn’t even give their staff my booking ID, so I had to send it to him at 1 AM. Everything that could go wrong did. It ruined our post-party mood, and I couldn’t watch the UCL final because the network was weak and the Wi-Fi was terrible.

Getting there was difficult because Google Maps showed the wrong location. The hotel is down a narrow alley with a small entrance. I arrived around 1 a.m., checked in without much delay, and took the elevator to the third floor. The bellboy came with me to the room. I was very hungry, but there was no kitchen and it was too late to get food outside. Shivam at Reception helped me get two bottles of water. I’d booked through Agoda, and the room didn’t quite match the pictures. It was dim and compact, with storage space but nowhere to sit and eat, since there was no table or chair. It rained hard for a short time the next day, and water leaked badly through the fire-safety duct inside the room, dripping onto the television and floor. The toilet seat was also too low for me as a tall person. Cleanliness could have been much better, and management needs to keep closer watch on it. The breakfast they brought in the morning was great, as was the tea, but I had to eat sitting on the bed and worried about soiling the white linen. They should provide a table or at least a stool for food. I stayed one day, and the experience was average. Getting to the Railway Station was easy, but the hotel needs better upkeep and cleanliness.

The hotel is in a good spot for catching a train, though the map location is inaccurate. Rooms are decent for the price, but cleaning falls short, especially in the drawers and washroom. The AC in some rooms doesn’t work properly, although they’ll change your room if you complain.

The rooms are on the small side, but if you’re on a tight budget and only need a place to sleep, this is a very good value. The staff are polite, and it’s close to Delhi railway station. Some people at the station say it isn’t a family restaurant and try to steer you to other hotels, but I think this one is worth considering. Google Maps shows the wrong location. It’s actually near Hotel Amar Continental. Call the host, who was very kind and guided us there.
