Hotel Sunrise

The room was neat and clean, and the location has a great view. The food was only average, though. Still, it’s a good place to stay.

We found the hotel easy to reach on foot from both the bus stand and the main market, and the view is one you shouldn’t miss. Our room was spacious and clean, as was the bathroom. Hot water was available from 7am-10am and 5pm-7pm. Staff were friendly and quick with service. There’s a restaurant at the hotel, but its food was below average. We wouldn’t recommend eating there. Anjapayyar is within walking distance. We stayed for three days over the Labour Day weekend.

The terrace and the area outside the hotel had a view I really enjoyed. I’d avoid eating at the hotel restaurant, though. Astoria restaurant near the bus stand is a good vegetarian option. If you’re vegetarian, be aware that getting there means walking through the non-veg market, which smells bad. The room was spacious but only average, and none of the mobile charger points worked properly. Prices were high because of the season. For anyone new to Kodaikanal, people on the road offering to show hotels earn commissions, so room prices may be higher. I think a room should ideally cost 1.5-2k.

The room had dampness, the washroom was in terrible condition, the tap was broken, and there was no hot water. The network was poor and there was no Wi-Fi. Hotel staff also provided poor service. They persuaded us at the bus stand to choose this hotel and promised a room with a balcony view, but we didn’t get that room at the price we paid. The place was the worst hotel I could imagine.
