Badru and his team made this feel like home. The owner went out of his way for guests, shared helpful local travel tips and itineraries, and even gave us two chilled water bottles at checkout. He clearly puts guest comfort before profit. Maruti and Ganesh were fantastic too, always getting things done with a smile. The rooms are basic, but clean and well maintained. There are about 10 rooms and 2 dormitories, with AC and non-AC options. We stayed in a Super Deluxe AC room for two nights, from 4th April to 6th April 2025. The food was the best we had on our whole Gokarna trip. If you eat chicken, try the 'Garlic Chicken' starter. There are plenty of vegetarian choices too, including 'Veg Manchurian'. On our last day, we ordered fish and Birju surprised us with 'Prawns Chilli', which was juicy, crispy, and delicious. The tea was a simple delight as well. Coconut Tree Resort is a peaceful place for relaxing and sightseeing. Mahabaleshwar Temple and Gokarna town are just 500 meters away, reachable on foot or by auto rickshaw, and you can also rent a scooter or bike. By car, the resort is around 6-7 km away because of a bypass route around the narrow town roads. A small hill viewpoint nearby gives beautiful sunset views over the Arabian Sea. The restaurant has indoor, outdoor, and rooftop seating, depending on the season and weather. Definitely consider it for a Gokarna trip, or at least stop by for a meal.

Everything about this stay was a disaster, from the flooded room and terrible approach road to the owner’s rude, aggressive behavior. We booked two cottages, but poor construction meant rain came through the fan vent onto our beds. The owner didn’t come when we called, saying it was because of the rain. His staff arrived more than an hour later, while at 7 AM we were left outside, drenched, with wet luggage and soaked electronics. Despite the mess and lack of help, we offered to pay for one cottage out of basic decency. Only then did the owner show up, insult us and call us beggars. He threatened not to let us leave Golarna unless we paid in full, and said we shouldn’t travel if we couldn’t afford it. Completely unprofessional, with no accountability. For a place Google describes as a '3-star property', this felt like a scam. Stay away.

The location worked really well for us: in a few minutes you’re near the town’s main streets, but the property itself is peaceful and quiet. There’s a small hill behind it, and trekking up gives you a beautiful aerial view of the main beach. We stayed for two nights and had a pleasant visit. The staff were very helpful and quick to provide service.

The caretaker and owner were good and very helpful, but the rooms were so bad for the price. It didn’t feel worth the money at all, more like a rip-off. I should have stayed at zostel. Voltage fluctuations were another headache, and in the hot weather the AC wouldn’t stay on for long. I got sick after two days.
