OYO Townhouse 406 Volga Homes

I was in town for an exam at ION Digital, Ecom Towers. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk away, and being in a remote spot without a car or motorcycle, and with no other transport available, meant walking to find dinner. At check-in, the receptionist asked for extra charges despite my booking-app discount. They sorted it out after speaking to the manager. The hotel has a luxurious design and my room was nice, with all the amenities. My stay was comfortable apart from those issues. The wet floor was slippery and could be risky. I’d give it 3 out of 5.

Volga Homes is one of the worst Oyo places in Guwahati. They add charges on top of the online price, and the staff’s behavior is awful, with no understanding of hospitality. They say there’s an in-house restaurant, but won’t serve food and tell you to order through Swiggy or Zomato. The receptionist needs to learn how important it is to speak properly to customers.

The staff’s behavior is really inappropriate. Before staying, ask the manager at least three times about the room price and checkout time. They ask for extra money without explaining it, which is unfair. If you’re not in a rush, find another hotel.

We arrived from the airport at midnight after booking through Agoda, but the hotel gates were shut. No security guards were there, and we couldn’t get through to reception using the number provided. When we finally reached Agoda, they said the hotel had falsely reported us as no-shows, so we had to find somewhere else for the night. In 20 years of travelling, I’ve never had such a poor experience. Another group had something similar happen there too. I’m appalled and strongly advise staying away.
