Tranqville

Tranqville had a peaceful feel, and I loved the paintings and the way everything was arranged to feel like home. The caretaker dada's were well behaved and served good breakfast. Uber and food delivery both came to the guesthouse, so we didn’t have to worry about that. We stayed from 26-29 Oct and had a good experience. The bathroom was clean and hygienic, and the room was cleaned every day. Glad we chose Tranqville.

The rooms were in very poor condition, and the washrooms were filthy. My ailing mother was coming from a hospital, and when I arrived with her, my wife, and our four-year-old, the caretaker said he’d show us the rooms only after I paid the balance. I’d already paid 50% through Booking.com after the host messaged me on WhatsApp requesting it. Once I’d paid, they showed us the rooms. I’d told the host the check-in time well in advance, but after I called about the condition, he told us to wait for the caretaker to clean. The washrooms were in such a state that they couldn’t be cleaned in 10 or 15 minutes. Hospitality basics mean having clean, maintained rooms ready at check-in, especially after taking half the booking amount a day earlier. I asked the host to refund half the total, but he ignored the request and told us we could leave. Taking money from customers seems to be all they’re good at. I’ve filed a complaint with the Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum. A disgusting experience. Don’t book this property unless you want to waste your money.

The family room felt like a room at home, spacious and cosy, and the balcony had a really nice view. The staff were good and the rooms well maintained. The owner lives in the same compound, and the garden and flowers are kept beautifully. If you’re lucky, you might get to chat with Aunty during your stay. My best stay in Guwahati so far.

A comfortable homestay for business trips, with friendly staff and a nice locality that feels like home. The food is simple, so don’t expect anything elaborate. Breakfast is complimentary, and dinner costs about the local rate.
