Taj Mahal Hotel

This is about the restaurant, not the hotel. I stop in from time to time because it’s on my way to work. It’s not a bad place, and the taste is alright, though nothing exceptional. The food is pricey, and I can see how the hotel setting and location, with an elite clientele, might justify that. Still, 105/- before taxes for a couple of idlis with hardly any chutney choices feels like a lot. I wouldn’t come often if I were watching my budget. No real complaints beyond the expense.

For a better range, taste, quality, and service, go to Nanis or chutneys. Here, they served just one very bland chutney with the dosa. When we asked the waiter about other chutneys, he said they had some, but we’d have to order them because coconut chutney was all that came with dosa. Even small hole-in-the-wall places anywhere in South India serve better and offer at least two chutneys. I’d avoid this place if you want a good South Indian breakfast.

The calm, elegant setting made breakfast a lovely way to start the day, and the staff were courteous, attentive, and ready to help with a warm smile. The spread was impressive, mixing traditional Indian dishes with international favorites. Everything tasted fresh, was full of flavor, and was presented beautifully. It was a satisfying five-star breakfast that showed the Taj hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone after a luxurious morning meal.

The buffet had a wide range of choices, and everything was prepared well. The food was delicious, the ambience beautiful, and the location very classy. Live music added a great vibe. We had an absolutely awesome breakfast. I’d highly recommend it to families looking for a relaxed, enjoyable meal.
