PaliGhar Farmstay

The trip to the Relli river became one of the most memorable parts of my stay. I mentioned wanting to see it, and Kabir quickly arranged a lovely riverside outing with a picnic lunch. That simple gesture meant a lot. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles and courteous, attentive service, and Brownie was adorable and friendly. My son loved spending time with him. At Palighar – Kalimpong, the landscaping fits naturally with the local area, and the views are so mesmerizing that you just want to sit and take them in. Kabir and Ahana genuinely care about their guests, and you can feel that personal touch in the details. The whole property has a peaceful, cozy feeling. It's the kindness and care, as well as the beautiful setting, that make it special. I'd absolutely recommend it for a scenic, feel-good stay in Kalimpong.

The birdsong in the morning was a delight, especially with Kabir sharing what he knew about the different species. Meals made with local produce and recipes were delicious, and we had plenty of interesting conversations with Kabir and Ahana about the farm, regional history, and culture. I was lucky to stay at PaliGhar during a recent trip through northern India. It's a peaceful farmstay outside Kalimpong, run by Kabir and Ahana. There are only two rooms, but ours was comfortable and well appointed. It's a lovely spot to unwind, enjoy nature in comfort, and make new friends. I highly recommend it.

The farm based dinners were wonderful, with local dishes, and Kabir and Ahana shared interesting stories about moving from city life to the farm and opening PaliGhar. The community around them brings together Indian, Nepali, Bhutanese and Tibetan cultures, which made the place feel especially interesting. We also got up early for a birding tour with Kabir at dawn, as the fog lifted to reveal the lower Himalayas. Along the way, we saw his farm family feeding a cooked breakfast to the cows and goats. His guests had a lovely breakfast too, in a bucolic mountain setting, before heading out to see local sites. The Himalayan views were amazing, including the 3rd tallest mtn in the world in Nepal and peaks in Tibet and Bhutan. PaliGhar was one of the highlights of our northern India trip. It's a very special place in one of the most interesting places I've had the pleasure to visit.

Kabir and Ahana are passionate hosts, and their place feels like a peaceful slice of heaven away from the city. We loved the home cooked meals by their chef Sanjay and their adorable pet Brownie. Our stay at Palighar felt wholesome, surrounded by nature and in harmony with the lovely setting. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys a relaxed stay and the beauty of nature.
