At Sea Shore Hotel, Kanyakumari, the rooms seemed fine at first. There were four of us, two in Room A and two in Room B. When we tried to lock Room A before going to lunch, the lock was hard to close. We told reception, and two young boys who weren’t in uniform came to help, but they couldn’t fix it. My uncle ended up repairing the handle so we could lock the door safely. We let reception know we had managed to fix the problem. I then heard the receptionist smile sarcastically and tell her colleague, “they spoiled it and then fixed it.” That was unprofessional. Front desk staff should show basic courtesy, acknowledge the issue, and thank guests for reporting it instead of assuming they caused the damage. I hope management improves the maintenance checks and staff professionalism.

Waking up to the ocean was magical. We booked a regular room and got a sea view room free, with a stunning view from the window. Hotel Seashore is right by the water, and it’s the only hotel visible with a direct sea view from Vivekananda Rock Memorial. Kanyakumari Temple is 400m away on foot, and autos and cabs are right outside. The staff were so polite and helpful that they let us stay until 9:30 PM for our train, even though checkout is at 4:30 PM. Breakfast and dinner were complimentary, and the food was tastier, better quality, and more hygienic than at restaurants outside. Even in the heat, the breeze from the sea made the hotel pleasant, and it was easy to come back and cool off. No problems at all. I’d recommend Hotel Seashore to anyone visiting Kanyakumari.

We stayed over the weekend and had a good experience with the courteous staff and their service. The complimentary breakfast had a nice variety and tasted good. The room was quite large, and they gave us a bigger bed as requested. It’s close to the main sights, including sunrise point, vivekananda rock memorial, and tiruvalluvar statue. In room 506, though, the tiles aren’t set properly and shift out of place when you walk on them.

We only went for dinner at the rooftop restaurant, but I’d definitely consider staying at the hotel. The menu had local and international food, lots of seafood options, and a bar. As someone from England, I wanted something non-spicy for a change, and the chicken sizzler was wonderful, with mild gravy, steamed veg, fries, and rice. The garlic naan was tasty too. My friends had mushroom soup, squid dishes, and butter pannier. We all left full and happy, and the service was great.

One of our tour friends was given a room that smelled strongly of urine and cigarette smoke. It was really unpleasant and uncomfortable. When we raised it, staff seemed to brush off the complaint and indirectly blame us instead of dealing with it properly. Cleanliness, upkeep, and professional behavior are basic expectations. I hope management takes this seriously and improves service for future guests.
