OYO 5249 Hotel Heera International

The room was dirty, the linens and blankets weren’t clean, and there were no towels. We were given room 501 instead of the allotted 202, and had to ask for drinking water, which arrived half an hour later. The AC took 3-4 hours to cool the room, and still didn’t cool it fully. When I asked for the remote, a staff member was very rude and said we wouldn’t get it. At check-in they wouldn’t accept my Aadhaar card because its photo had been taken a few years earlier. The app showed Rs. 484 due, but they charged Rs. 500. We checked out early because of these problems. Then the manager made us wait while staff checked the room and charged me Rs. 500 for a bedsheet they said was dirty, though it had already been dirty. Isn’t cleaning the sheets the hotel’s job? I complained to Oyo Assistant but never heard back. I feel cheated by both Oyo and the hotel, and plan to take this further and complain to the consumer forum.

The food portions were generous, but the taste wasn’t good, and the Wi-Fi had no internet. The room interiors need attention since many things were broken, including delicate charging plugs. Service was slow, staff asked for tips, and the bill had a 12% charge added. We did get to check out a little late without being questioned, though I’m not sure whether they charged for it because I couldn’t see the bill. It was pretty expensive and a bad experience.

The one thing going for it is how close it is to New Market. The rooms were very dirty, with stains on every sheet and blanket, and the bathroom was disgusting. The AC and water heater were broken. We had to ask for bottled water, and it took an hour to arrive. The workers kept asking for tips.

The hygiene was the worst part, with bed mites and insects. The room size was adequate for one or two people, but not for a third person in a double room. Food quality was 5/10. The location, within 600 metres of New Market, gets 7/10, and the budget friendly tariff gets 8/10. AC and hot water need attention. After entering the room, we had to ask reception to switch them on manually. Staff often turned off the hot water without telling guests, and the AC stayed at its highest setting with no control from the room. Room service also needs improvement, since requests couldn’t be handled on demand.
