We’d booked through OYO and paid in advance, but when we arrived the gates were chained shut and they wouldn’t let us into the property. Someone gave a lame excuse about a power problem, even though we could see the reception lights were on. They told us to complain in the app and find another place. To make things worse, when I first called OYO customer service, they didn’t help. Later, after I kept trying, I found out the hotel had already checked us in, so customer support could only help after they checked us out, even though I’d never checked in and wasn’t allowed inside. Cheaters, robbers, the worst. Don’t waste your money.

The manager wouldn’t let us check in unless we paid more, and his behaviour toward customers was poor. He told us to complain to OYO, but when we called customer service, they gave no response and didn’t provide a full refund. I booked Amar Raj View near City Center 2 Kolkata, and it was one of the worst experiences. OYO is cheating customers. Don’t ever book this Amar Raj View OYO hotel.

It’s a nice place for people coming to Kolkata from other parts of the state or country. The area near the hotel is still quiet, with little noise but quite a bit of dust from construction. This part of Kolkata is a fast-growing suburb near Newtown and Biswa Bangla Sarani, with residential and commercial complexes going up every day. A shopping mall and several hypermarkets are close by. I first visited in November. After December, I came back yesterday, March 16, and everything was as usual, though construction was going on all around at full speed. It looked like the whole area could be built up within a year. When I visited again at the end of May, compared with November, construction was much denser, with more than half the area under construction, being renovated, or completed. Business opportunities are growing too.

The authorities and caretakers were asleep, so I had to go downstairs to get soap and water. The AC wasn’t working, and the washroom was quite dirty. What’s the Wi-Fi password?
