OYO Flagship 16209 Hotel Ambar Palace

The room wasn’t clean, and the dusting hadn’t been done properly. One staff member was kind and looked after us well, though I don’t know his name. He cleaned the room, changed the bedsheet, and treated us well. That’s the reason I’d give three stars for his service. Keep it up!

You deserve better for what you pay here, so please make an effort to find another place. Nothing is complimentary, not even a single bottle of water. The bottles they provide as complimentary are already unsealed.

The service, room condition, and staff behavior were all disappointing, with no professionalism. The blankets and covers were dirty, and the noisy window AC sounded like a generator running above my head. The non-AC rooms are better than the AC ones. There’s also a tiny lift that makes noise throughout the hotel. Stay here at your own choice. A horrible experience.

After leaving, I was still frustrated by the experience. The staff made a racist comment by calling me Nepali, the first racist remark I’ve faced in my life. They need to understand India’s diversity and its states, including the Northeast. The manager and staff were very rude, and the room was awful: no clean bedsheets, dirty toilets, no room service, and a serious water leak in room 402. The hotel’s checkout policy was also terrible. Even if you arrive at 5 in the morning, they’ll kick you out around 6 the next day, with no consideration about checkout time. It spoiled my image of Kolkata and its people, at least in my eyes. If someone around the New Market area offers you a card for hotel ember palace, don’t take it. I know how tiring it is to find a hotel after traveling, especially in the morning, but take some time to read nearby reviews and find a good one. There are many hotels in the area. I’m giving one star only because I have to, since someone said to post this. They don’t deserve even that.
