It’s easy to get around from here, and Munna knows the area well. He’s really friendly and makes a great breakfast; the apartment block’s security watchman was helpful too. My room was basic, but very clean and had what I needed. One thing to know: this doesn’t seem to be the original yellowbrick location shown in many reviews and photos. This place has two bedrooms rather than five, and it isn’t yellow. That didn’t affect my stay, which was good, and I’d come back, but it may help to know beforehand.

Right in the middle of South Kolkata, with restaurants all around and Netaji's place nearby. The host was supportive, and the property manager was especially cooperative. He even served a hot cheese omlette for breakfast. I’d definitely book again.

The bed and breakfast is a small apartment in a private residential building, and there are restrictions on when you can arrive or leave. Update: I saw older reviews and photos showing a terrace, but those are for another property. The owners still seem to be misleading guests about it.

Getting in was easy even though I reached Kolkata at 2am, since the guard knew I was coming. The location is great, within walking distance of several landmarks, and I met a couple of really interesting guests sharing the apartment, which made the stay more special. The caretaker was friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. The place was clean, the AC was comfortable, the water was hot, each room had a TV, and the wifi was fast. One of my best bed and breakfast stays.

The kitchen didn’t even have basic equipment or cutlery, and the TV had no channels. The rooms were shabby and short on amenities. This isn’t the same setup as before: Yellowbricks moved from a five-room villa to a two-bedroom apartment, and the 24/7 caretaker has been replaced by a watchman. It might do for one night, but I wouldn’t book this property again.
