The meals were a real strength on our Aqua Castle Houseboat trip with Aqua Jumbo Houseboats. Lunch was delicious, the crew asked about our food preferences in advance, and the snacks and tea or coffee were good too. There was a welcome drink and bottled water throughout. Communication was helpful, with follow-ups and directions before we arrived, and the trip left on time at 11:00 AM after clear instructions to get there by 10:45. We appreciated that the advance payment was around 30%, instead of the 50% listed on Booking.com, and the Bluetooth audio system let us play our own music. We were also lucky with the weather during our July visit, even with the southwest monsoon around, so the backwaters were enjoyable. A few things need attention. The water closet had stains, and the cistern water was mud-colored. The TV didn't work for us. Booking.com listed Wi-Fi, but none was available, and said parking was free, though we paid ₹150. The optional speed boat at ₹300 per person seemed a bit pricey. The captain also took us to a local fish monger where prices seemed highly inflated, so it felt like those stops might be commission-based for the crew. Better transparency there would help. It was still a generally pleasant trip.

The food was extremely fresh and tasty, and the night docking spot looked amazing, like lotus forming an infinity pool on one side of the dock. During our one night there last August, they took us through the mangroves and past many beautiful places. It really felt like a heavenly stay on the water, a little piece of God's own country.

Chef Mani is a superstar. The food was wow, from the vegetable dishes to karimeen fish fry and butterfly prawns, and fresh catch is a must. We had a private boat and a private paddy field docking point. The rooms were comfortable and air conditioned, with good precautions against mosquitoes, and there was a great music system. The staff were helpful and knew the backwaters well. The operator has earned its ratings and reviews, so book and enjoy the experience. Check the pictures too.

My sister booked the whole boat for her birthday, and they served three meals. When she asked about fishing, they arranged it, and they can decorate the houseboat if you request it ahead of time. Such an amazing place and experience.

The food was good, and the boat ride was a unique experience, but the cleanliness wasn't great. The crew gave us very little information. We went on a two-hour boat ride, then stayed anchored beside paddy fields for the rest of the time. It was okay, just not spectacular.
