Garggi Village Homestay

The food was some of the best traditional Kerala cooking we’ve had. Every meal was fresh, full of flavor, and served with care. Our hosts welcomed us like family from the moment we arrived, and we felt well looked after. Garggi Village Homestay was the highlight of our Kumarakom trip. It’s set in a peaceful, lush spot where you can wake up to the sounds of nature. The rooms were spotless, cozy, and well maintained, with rustic charm and modern convenience. It felt authentic and safe for a family, without the sterile atmosphere of a big resort.

For a budget stay in Kumarakam, this homestay has a great backwater view, especially from the rooftop room. There are a few parking spots on the property. We booked two rooms for a day while one more room was occupied. One woman handles the caretaking, cooking, and cleaning, so I’m not sure how she could keep service fast and smooth when it’s busy. Still, she served us with a smile and did a good job, despite some reviews mentioning rude staff. We had breakfast and dinner, both reasonably priced. The room maintenance needs attention. The table’s glass top was cracked, the basin leaked, and the quilt had no cover, so it probably hadn’t been washed after every use. If the owner invested in upgrades, this could be good value for money.

We had a fantastic staycation with friends. The rooms were really spacious, with big, comfortable beds, and there were lots of activities to choose from. The banana boat rides were nice, and the speed boat service is a must-try. The food was delicious.

The photos and advertisements gave a very different impression from what we found. The rooms were dirty and poorly maintained, and the resort didn't offer facilities that matched its price. Staff were rude and couldn't give proper answers. The food was poor and not tasty, especially for what it cost.
