Hotel Grand Willow

The outside area is lovely, with lots of flowers, and the location is convenient for walking to Leh market. There are good places to eat nearby. But the room equipment and facilities were lacking, and there was no hot water in the morning for a bath or anything else. The food wasn’t great either.

The staff were courteous, the service was good, and the food was very good. The hotel is also an easy walk from Leh Market. The rooms need work, though. They weren’t clean enough, and the curtains, bedsheets and cupboards all looked worn and poorly maintained.

That open sit-out area has a great buzz to it, and it’s a lovely place to unwind with a group. We really enjoyed our three nights here. The property was clean and comfortable, and the architecture has a distinctive oriental style.

We had a great, well-managed stay. The hotel has two main buildings, each with two floors and five rooms per floor, for around 30 rooms in total. Rooms are large, and so are the bathrooms. If WiFi matters, choose a room near the dining area, since the signal doesn’t reach farther away. Hot water is served from 6-7 in the morning. There’s Tata Sky on the TVs, and they put on a local cultural program in the space available at the hotel. The food was okay, though the papad was amazing. It may be hard to provide top service when Leh is open to tourists for only six months and closes after that, and the workers are from Nepal and other areas rather than Leh. I went through a tour package, so I don’t know the charges, but the hotel seemed mid-range.
