Massara - A Beach Resort

The rooms were spacious, clean and hygienic, and the basic food we ordered was very tasty. The resort is close to the beach, though you can’t see it straight from the rooms, and service was good. The serious problem was the AC. In the scorching, humid month of May, it wasn’t working in alternate rooms, and most rooms seemed to have the same issue. We and the other guests had a huge argument with staff. It seemed as if this was being done deliberately to save on electricity, since the AC worked in most rooms from 3-4 am. I wouldn’t recommend staying here in summer.

The cottage was dirty and broken, with an awful bed and mattress, and the service was really bad. Food cost far too much, while the complimentary breakfast was very ordinary. The property itself was only average and a long way from any market. The road to the main road was narrow and broken. There was no boundary or main gate, so people from outside tended to come in and interfere. I wouldn’t recommend booking a room here.

I visited in late April 2024 and was surprised by how much the property had deteriorated. It used to be a wonderful staycation hotel, but after the ownership changed, part of the hotel was broken and falling apart, and the common areas had no maintenance. The rooms are still good, though the bathroom fittings and linens are gradually getting damaged. The place is in poor condition and unhealthy.

The location is fabulous and is the resort’s main strength. The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff are friendly, the food is decent, and the property welcomes pets. But maintenance is a serious problem. The AC was faulty in both of our Premium AC rooms, and other guests had similar complaints. There are no phone lines in the rooms either. I visited on 20th May 2023. It’s worth considering in winter, but I’d avoid summer unless they sort out the AC issues.
