Hotel Atithi

My Corporate deluxe room cost 5044/-, but it was very small, and I wasn’t satisfied with the value. The hotel is in a market area, the food was only OK, and the food charges felt high. They also charged me Rs.390/- for the snacks and 2 liter mineral water bottle in the room: 2 Lays chips, 2 Biscuits, 2 chocolates, and 2 liter mineral water. There was no mention anywhere that these items would cost extra. My check-in date was 02nd Jan'20. Overall, the tariff wasn’t worth it.

The rates for an ACRoom are high, and the food costs even more, so it’s not affordable for middle class guests. The location is convenient, though, right behind the Airport and near Bala hotel. They have a banquet hall for functions, meetings, and seminars, with food available. A good spot for business meetings if you’re a high earning business man.

They first gave me keys to Room 703, but someone else’s luggage was inside, which felt like a serious breach of personal security. Room 702 was locked with someone inside, and I finally got Room 710. This felt more like a lodge near the airport, at 3900/- per room night plus breakfast. My bed was barely wide enough for me, and I felt I could roll onto the floor if I turned over. The room had one C grade soap and a shampoo sachet, but no slippers, tea, coffee, or towels. They promptly brought a mini bucket and mug for bathing when I asked. At reception, they also asked me to pay Rs 20 cash for a bottle of mineral water, which would’ve cost Rs 60 if ordered from the room. Now I’m waiting to see how breakfast goes. Hope it’s in sync.

It’s within walking distance of the Domestic Airport, and the room size is good. The furniture and linen are very old, though, and the toiletries aren’t up to the mark. The entrance gates shut after midnight, so you have to honk to get in and check in late. It’s an old property and a small hotel that offers value for money, but it could be maintained much better.
