Hotel Breeze Bay

I chose this hotel because it was only about five minutes by auto from the US consulate, where I was going for a US visa. I stayed one night, and the hotel itself was clean and nice, with a restaurant serving basic food. The surroundings are a slum area, which could put some people off, but I didn't feel unsafe. The road at the end is narrow, so cab drivers may worry about having room to turn. Inside the hotel grounds, though, there was enough space to park and turn around.

Some staff stared at us in a way that felt inappropriate, which made the stay unsettling, especially for a family. Their general manner was hostile too: they were rude, dismissive, and acted as though even basic requests were a nuisance instead of trying to help. We were uncomfortable with the surroundings throughout. The area felt extremely poor and unsafe, and this turned into a stressful, unpleasant stay.

We left within half an hour of arriving, after seeing the location and getting a bad feeling about the people we encountered. We had booked two rooms and paid 28,000 in advance, but they refused to return any of it. We didn't even argue over the substantial amount because our focus shifted to getting out safely. The surroundings felt unsafe and the environment was very poor. Please avoid this place with your family. There are better, cheaper options nearby or elsewhere.

The staff were okay, though I barely dealt with them. The room, however, had cockroaches of different sizes all over, and the online photos made the property look much better than it was. I booked two nights last month, but felt so uncomfortable that I left on the first day and moved to another hotel. Paying more for somewhere cleaner and safer is worth it. This place isn't cheap, either. Getting around was difficult. Ola and Uber often refused pickups in this area, and finding a local rickshaw or cab was hard. My driver was shocked I was staying there and urged me to leave. The hotel is in the middle of a slum, and calling the area shady doesn't capture how bad it felt. The unsafe location and pest problem made this my worst hotel stay. I'd look elsewhere.
