The balcony looks out over a gorgeous natural setting, and there’s plenty to enjoy if you like watching birds. Santosh and his family made us feel very welcome, and the food they served was delicious. Our room was roomy and clean, too. The homestay is in a quiet spot away from town, but they’re glad to help arrange transport and activities. Such a lovely stay.

We really enjoyed our time at The Shade. The hosts were so kind and took us around their garden, where we saw spices like nutmeg, cardamom and chillies, along with a cashew nut tree. It’s a very quiet place, with beautiful birds as the main sounds.

Aunty’s cooking was fantastic, and the farm has lots of spices, flowers and vegetables. Uncle Santosh looked after us so well during our three days there. It felt like being at home. A really good homestay, highly recommended.

The host family was great and could accommodate our 5-year-old daughter’s special needs. Breakfast and dinner were tasty, and the views were amazing. It was very peaceful, while still being within a reasonable 20-40 minute drive of busy downtown Munnar and the surrounding area.

The balcony and dining room both have lovely mountain views, and the home-cooked meals were delicious. Mr Santosh and his family were very hospitable, and our room was clean and kept in good shape. We had a great time at this laid-back, quiet homestay near Munnar. It’s some distance from town, so I’d suggest getting a cab or bringing your own transport. A good choice if you want somewhere calm.
