I had a butter onion masala dosa at The Galley Hotel & Restaurant, and it was nicely made and tasted good. The chutney and sambar were fine too, just not especially memorable. Chamunda temple is 3KM away. Facebook: Vicky Voyager.

Lovely place, and the food was wow.

The kitchen was visible from the dining area and you could access it, but it wasn't clean, which was a real turn-off for a new place. The thali was disappointing too: the Rada chicken and the other chicken curry tasted the same, with only the color seeming different. The ambience felt quite cold. The place itself was fine and the hospitality was okay, but there's a lot they could improve.

We stopped for lunch on the way from Palampur to Dharamshala and enjoyed it. The mountain views are spectacular, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the food was tasty. You can also eat outside on the lawn in the sun.

The food is cooked to suit your taste. We asked for mild dishes for the kids, and the cook made tasty jeera aaloo and daal. After getting tired of the usual hotel buffets, we really enjoyed the aromas and flavors of the desi food and ate our fill. The setting is okay, somewhere between a Dhaba and a proper restaurant. For good Indian food with a desi tadka, head to the Galley on the Dharamshala--Palampur road instead of the exotic hotels. I'd recommend it.
