The Shrine Hotel

The main reason to stay here is how close it is to Omkareshwar temple, just a 200-meter walk. Other hotels are much farther away, and this is the only standard option nearby that you can manage. The rooms are clean and spacious, with AC, and the washrooms are large, though they could be better maintained. The surrounding temple area, restaurants, and roads are very dirty. The food tastes good, though.

The staff made things easy, carrying our luggage up and down the stairs without expecting tips. They also pointed out routes to the temples and ghats, and arranged an auto rickshaw to Mandhata island at a reasonable rate. The rooms have a huge king-sized bed with clean linen, and both the separate toilet and bathroom were kept clean. There’s no in-house restaurant, and you have to climb stairs each time, but the location makes that manageable. The new foot overbridge to Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple and Mamleshwar Mahadev temple are within walking distance. Food joints, Gaumukh Ghat, and the old footbridge are just a few minutes away. The Shrine Hotel is a real find in Omkareshwar, and we had a very pleasant, memorable stay. Good value for money, highly recommended.
