Deccan Park Resort

Our stay was comfortable and memorable, with lovely scenery around the property. The grounds are well maintained, and the staff are courteous. The meals were delicious and well prepared. Restaurant staff deserve a special mention for their warm hospitality and prompt, polite service. One thing that didn’t work well was the room warmer. They provided that instead of a proper room heater, and it wasn’t much use.

The staff were kind and polite, and the restaurant food was good. But the rest of the stay was difficult. It’s 6 to 7kms from town, and without a car you’re looking at 300rs. each way to the bus stand or market, or 600rs. for a round trip. There’s no biscuit shop or chemist nearby, and Zamto and Swiggy were the only food delivery options. No delivery or cab apps worked there, and even though we were willing to pay, the hotel wouldn’t provide a bike or car. We stayed 4 to 5 days, and the rooms got freezing cold at night. Nothing in the room stays warm. They ask for 500 extra per night for a heater, which should have been included in the package. The geyser takes 45 mins. to heat water for one person’s bath, then another 45 mins. for the next person. If you get sick or start shivering, there’s no doctor onsite, and they didn’t take us to one. On Sunday, they told us there wouldn’t be any doctor in all of Ooty. As a newly married couple or a family, I wouldn’t suggest going alone. It’s remote and not easy to manage.

I spent 4 days & 3 nights here and found the property clean and hygienic, with a great view and an accessible location. My stay was comfortable and the breakfast decent. There were occasional technical problems with the washroom, though, and the heater should be in each room at check-in, with a usage charge if needed. I wasn’t told it would cost extra. Good value for money !!

There’s a hidden pine forest nearby, and the area is beautiful. The rooms are large and clean, with good provisions. I booked on a weekday and got a double bedroom quaters for 2300. Monkey well worth. There’s a play area for children and adults, plus a camp fire and restaurant. The restaurant is pure vegetarian, but you can order outside food and they’ll provide plates. It’s a nice stay in Ooty.
