Hotel Charring Cross

The three gentlemen at reception were always helpful and cordial. I don’t know their names, but their hospitality left a lasting impression on my parents and me during our Ooty trip. I’m grateful we chose Hotel Charring Cross. It’s right in Charring Cross Market, five minutes from the Botanical garden and three minutes from Moddys cafe, where the tea and hot chocolate are the best. There’s just a flight of stairs to the rooms in series 1, 2 and 3, as well as stairs up to the reception lobby. Keep that in mind if you have knee joint issues or difficulty climbing stairs. Otherwise, it’s a wonderful hotel.

The location is the best part. It’s right in the city’s main market, with lots of shops downstairs for almost everything. The rooms are cozy but smell bad. Still, it’s an okay place to stay if the price fits your budget.

The staff made this stay feel easy and welcoming. We were looking for somewhere affordable in Ooty when most hotels seemed too expensive, and luckily found this place. The receptionist and team were kind, understood our tight budget, and gave us the best discount they could. Our room was clean, the service was good, and they kept checking that we were comfortable. I’m grateful for their hospitality and would recommend staying here.

It’s in a handy location for getting to local spots, and the property was clean throughout, including the rooms, bathrooms, and shared areas. The staff were warm, polite, and quick to help, which made the stay comfortable. Room service was fine but a little slow, and the TV had limited choices. Those issues were minor compared with the overall experience. A few improvements to response times and room facilities would make this an even stronger option.
