Sinclairs Retreat Ooty

The lobby view alone is breathtaking, even if you don't get a room with a view. Sinclairs Retreat Ooty sits on the edge of the highest peak, and the setting felt like a dream. From the moment we arrived, it felt like jannat. We had a wonderful stay of 3 nights and 4 days, and everything surpassed what I expected: the view, reception team, housekeeping, food, and everyone working there. Mr. Khan deserves special thanks, along with the gentleman wearing spectacles. I'm not completely sure of his name, and I think it may be Mr. Khan. I left early in the morning and couldn't meet him, but his kindness, support, and hospitality made the stay unforgettable. Please pass on my thanks to him and all the staff who helped us. I may not remember every name, but I'm grateful to everyone. I've been to many hotels and never written a review before, but this team deserved one. I'd give it 5 out of 5. I personally found the place very safe and trustworthy. We could leave our belongings openly and nothing was disturbed, which says a lot about the staff's integrity. Parking was very good, and the driver accommodation, with meals available by discussion, was thoughtful. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were delicious. Food took a while, but it was freshly made and worth waiting for. The staff were polite, humble, and helpful. I believe everyone should visit Sinclairs Retreat Ooty at least once in a lifetime. It's an experience. I'd love to speak with Mr. Khan to thank him personally, if possible. Thank you for such a memorable stay. I hope to hear back.

The dinner selection was more limited than breakfast, and it was a bit pricey, though still satisfactory. Breakfast had an impressive range of choices. Our cozy, well-designed room was positioned to make the most of its own beautiful view. The location is prime, with one of the best views around, and the reception team in particular greeted us warmly. Staff were cordial and helpful throughout. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend Hotel Sinclairs Retreat to anyone visiting Ooty.

We stayed for two nights and were satisfied. The sunsets were amazing, and the property has a lovely garden and beautiful views. Staff were helpful and good. The rooms are a bit small, but they made good use of the space.

We stayed for two days, on 30th and 31st December 2025, and the experience was awful for the money. The whole property smelled unpleasant, and both rooms we'd booked were in shabby condition. Staff were rude and unhelpful. When I raised the poor hygiene and smell, receptionist Naveen snapped, “Have you visited the entire hotel to complain that all rooms are stinking?” We were told there was complimentary high tea from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, but it was only tea or coffee with biscuits and namkeen. After a long commute, we asked for something more substantial, and were charged a very high price for sandwiches. That felt unreasonable. We also took the 31st night package, which required the gala dinner. It was the worst New Year's celebration I've experienced. Everything from starters to dinner was below average, there were no activities or entertainment, and the event finished so early that most people went to bed by 9:00 PM. Hardly anyone stayed until midnight. It was an incredibly boring party, and the whole stay was deeply disappointing.
