The location made it easy to get to all the beaches, and they gave complimentary welcome gifts. The bed and AC worked well, and room service was very good. Still, there are a lot of problems that need attention. There’s no dedicated car parking or lift, and the staircase is very steep and hard to use. The room felt congested, with the cot and bed set too high to sit or sleep comfortably. It also smelled bad, and at night there was a loud outside AC compressor even with the door closed. The bathroom wasn’t maintained properly, the tap was damaged, and the toilet area was in poor condition. The water heater usually didn’t work. After we told the staff, we got an additional heater because the hotel uses solar heating. The location and service are good, but many basic facilities need improvement for a comfortable stay.

The room had mosquitoes everywhere, and when I asked for All Out or another repellent, they said they didn’t have any. Basic items were missing, including floor mats, soap, handwash, and towels. The rugs were torn and the bedsheets dirty. The place wasn’t clean, and despite several requests there was no hot water. After repeated complaints, they eventually brought a bucket of hot water. The staff were rude, careless, and not guest-friendly. When I asked for two blankets, they said they had none. There was no housekeeping during the stay. Breakfast was included in the booking, but none was provided. The lodge was overpriced for its facilities and service, unhygienic, and unprofessional. Not worth even one star, and I’d avoid it. Malar Residency was a pleasant place to stay, with neat, clean, well-kept rooms. It’s conveniently close to the Pondicherry bus stand and Rock Beach, making it easy to explore the city. A good option if you want comfortable accommodation with an accessible location.

The manager helped us arrange a two-wheeler at a lower price and looked out for possible fraud. He also helped with food and autos. On the last day, he let us leave our luggage after checkout. A good hotel to stay in Pondicherry, especially for people from other states.
