OYO 16559 Chez Pondy

The lane was quiet with little noise, and the service was good. Our room was ready at the proper check-in time, and all the services were quick and appreciated. It's 6 km from both Paradise beach and the rock beach, with good shopping options nearby.

The room was a decent size, and so was the bathroom, but everything else was awful. Our sheets and towels were stained and dirty, and the bathroom taps and shower leaked or didn't work. Water only came on after they started a motor, and we had to keep reminding them. There was no room service, and even spoons weren't available when we asked. Breakfast was given to the six adults in our group, but not the two kids. The photos on the Oyo rooms site were completely misleading, and the drain just outside had a terrible smell. A place to avoid.

The beds and blankets were nice, and the rooms looked good, but management was really poor. The floor was dusty, the intercom didn't work, there was no AC remote in the room, and most TV channels weren't subscribed. We waited an hour for breakfast and 45 minutes for coffee.

I stayed only one night because I was tired and couldn't change hotels that day, then checked out early the next morning. The room was an okay size, but the quality was poor, and the mattresses were very hard. Some of the linen had cigarette burns. Service was always delayed, and neither the intercom nor the Wi-Fi worked. Breakfast was three idlis, with no coffee or tea even though one was listed. There isn't even a small kitchen, so you can't order anything from the hotel. It felt like a very shady place. Think twice before booking, unless the rate is really cheap.
