Apart from the location, nothing was good. In the first room there was a shared door to the next room with no soundproofing, and the men next door kept the TV loud until midnight. There was also a rat in a gap behind the cupboard. Staff first denied it, then told us to put up with the sound because there was no other room. We showed them the video and Agoda's room availability, and after arguing they moved us. The new room hadn't been cleaned on the second day even though we'd specifically requested it. The bedsheets and pillows were poorly maintained. When we had to check out in the morning but our bus wasn't until evening, they also refused to hold our luggage in the luggage room or reception. The receptionist was lousy and did nothing.

The manager deserves a special mention for being supportive and going out of his way to help us. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I had a great stay at Shappir Inn. Everything was well managed and the service was excellent throughout. Would definitely visit again, and recommend it for a comfortable, hassle-free stay.

Saphire inn seemed to me like the best affordable hotel in pondichery. I stayed two days. The room was neat and clean, with hot water available 24 hours. It's in white town, within walking distance of rock beach, white and the sunday market. The receptionist was very polite and shared lots of information about tourist places. I hired a car from outside, and he explained to the driver which places to go to first and last. The hotel also has its own car service, at the customer's expense.

The staff were polite and helpful, and the room was kept clean. It's in a prime spot with easy access to food and all the attractions. We had a good stay in this family-friendly, safe property in Pondicherry.

The manager was especially great, and all the staff behaved well. The hotel is comfortable, clean and right in the heart of pondicherry. I came with an older family member, and they arranged a good auto for local sightseeing as well as a great cab owner. We travelled with him for the next 7 days, and the hotel took responsibility for our whole south India tour. The complimentary breakfast was enjoyable too. A really great experience.
