If you’re looking to meet travelers and have a good time, this place is a good fit. The rooftop deck has a nice view, and the staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming. It’s close to laxum jhula, too. Just know it isn’t a quiet place.

The hostel has a welcoming atmosphere for meeting people and soaking up Varanasi’s spiritual energy. It’s also really handy for exploring, with the ghats and main attractions close by. Our room was neat, clean, and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and ready to offer advice on local places and experiences. We had a wonderful stay at Madpackers Varanasi, with great service and a location I’d happily recommend.

The rooftop has good views, and the jenga was a fun way to pass time with friends. Our room was cosy and the bed comfortable, and the two women on staff were polite and patient. But there were power cuts both day and night, and just before we left, there was no water in the bathroom. The man managing things seemed unsure about what was happening with our booking and was rude when we asked. The location takes some effort too: it’s up a steep lane, and hard to spot from the road, so we had to stop and ask around. Apparently that’s common for many stays there, which is understandable.

The property could be cleaner and better maintained, though it has a relaxed atmosphere for travelers. What made the stay especially good was guest manager Kaushal. He was helpful, friendly, and quick to assist, and he made the hostel feel welcoming, safe, and inclusive. He offered local suggestions, helped with plans, and was always happy to chat. Check-in and check-out went smoothly. I’d recommend staying here, especially for Kaushal’s thoughtful management and hospitality.
