The Pear Tree

The noise went on all night. Staff and guests shouted, sang, talked loudly, and seemed to be drunk. Someone knocked on my glass window at night, and there was coughing and spitting at the window. My baby kept waking up. I found the place scary and felt there was no decency or consideration for families. I’d be especially wary of staying here with a baby, as well as travelling alone as a woman or with family. I booked through MakeMyTrip and told them I’d be alone with an infant under a year old. During our two nights, I had dal rice and egg curry, and the baby had one smashed potato and one boiled egg. The bill was 720 rupees, and the food prices hadn’t been shared beforehand. The cook made me uncomfortable. The owner or staff didn’t share the Wi-Fi password, and there was no toothpaste kit. I felt tourists were being overcharged. This was a terrible stay.

The pear tree had the basics I needed, including Wi-Fi, a TV, and room service, along with a comfortable bed, clean bathroom, and fresh towels. Helpful staff, quick service, and a peaceful setting made the stay feel welcoming. To me, the place had a home away from home feel, with a chance to rest and enjoy the journey whether travelling for work or a holiday.

The room was really nice, with a very comfy bed, plenty of blankets, and a sofa. The hot shower was great too. We loved our one-night stay, and the staff were attentive. I’d stay again if I’m passing through Shillong. Thank you!

The map was misleading about the location, but the hotel team gave us good directions. We stayed one night, checking in at 7pm and out at 8:30 am. The room was very clean, spacious enough, and had the basic facilities, with a nice looking interior. Breakfast was tasty, and they can customize it.
