I was comfortable during the stay, but the bathroom malfunctioned for all three nights. We had to mop the floor ourselves at least 9-10 times. The hotel offered to send housekeeping each time, though having to call them every hour wasn't comfortable. They did offer other rooms, but none suited my needs or matched my original booking, so I had to settle for the room. Rooms needing maintenance shouldn't be given to guests, and management needs to make sure the amenities work.

The location was handy, near Shimla Old bus stand and Mall road. Our room was clean and well looked after, and the staff were very hospitable. We had a great stay.

That bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the Royal room gave me a stunning view over a couple of valleys. I was on the sixth floor, but the small lift holds six people, just no luggage. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the hotel is close to the ridge and Mall Rd. I stayed three nights and would come back, even though the place feels a bit dated and needs redecorating. Monkeys use the parapet outside the window as a shortcut, which made me feel like David Attenborough at times. There are notices everywhere too, if you like signs. There’s no heating in the hotel. You can hire a blow heater for 500r a day, an extra 25% on the room price. Breakfast was disappointing when I tried it once: an omelette, toast and tea for 300r, which felt very expensive for what it was. The kitchen was closed afterward, luckily Maggi point cafe by the school, just around the corner, had the same order with two extra eggs. I didn’t go back for breakfast. Management, it’s 2026, and the hotel opened in 1959. Surely that’s enough time to install some radiators.

I stayed with seven other people and we booked four rooms. We all regretted choosing this place. The stay itself was bad, but what happened afterward was worse. The owner accused my earlier review of being fake because I didn’t post it using my personal email, and blamed competitors. This is me writing the review again. What really upset me was seeing the owner publicly expose and shame guests online using details from their check-in ID proofs, including names and addresses. Guests hand over private documents expecting confidentiality. Here, that information was used as ammunition after a negative review. That feels like intimidation, not hospitality. A decent hotel would apologize and improve. Instead, the owner acts like an internet troll, and the repeated “fake review” responses make this seem like a pattern. The property tries to look professional, but criticism seems to bring out arrogance, hostility and no respect for guest privacy. If your peace of mind and privacy matter to you, stay away. Plenty of other hotels deserve your money more.
