Hotel Madhuban Shimla

Parking was good, and the staff were good as well. The food was the best part for me, especially for the price. I stayed three nights, and the room was good for a very reasonable rate. It's about a 10-minute walk to Mall Road. The downside is the road-facing location: vehicle noise carried on through the night. I'd still suggest staying here.

The owner was kind, friendly, and very good to us. We stayed two days, and I'm writing this as we check out. The service was awesome, and all the food we tried had its own great taste: aloo parantha, Puri bhaji, egg burji, masala tea, and roti. A good place to stay in Shimla, we had an awesome experience.

The bathroom was the main letdown: it was tiny and the fittings didn't work well. I felt the stay was worth what I paid after bargaining, until I used it. Also, the hotel is a little far from Shimla's main attractions if that's why you're visiting. The building facade looks almost dilapidated, though the entrance at the back feels homely and cozy. Inside, it seems from another era, with beautifully made wooden bedside tables that have drawers and built-in radios. Wooden floors made the rooms very comfortable, but my room was smaller than I expected. Room service was on the spot, and the food was decent and priced about as you'd expect at a two- or three-star hotel. The restaurant had a retro feel and a decent view.

The food was good, and the staff behaved well. The rooms felt cozy, though they were small and quite old, so they could use renovation. Still, they had an old-school vibe.
