OYO 69895 Kalpana Residency Inn

The bathroom was cramped, and the shower didn’t give warm water. The room was clean and the AC worked fine. Still, the staff behaved so badly that I felt like cancelling and going somewhere else. I was willing to pay extra, but their welcome was so poor it felt like they were doing me a favor by letting me have a room.

For the price, the rooms were really good and the service was good too, though it could’ve been better. One room was missing a pillow and hand wash, and neither room had an AC remote at first. They brought the remotes after we asked. The biggest drawback is how far the place is from New Jalpaiguri railway station.

The rooms and the view were good, with decent light and airflow, and our stay was good overall. But leaving at 4.15 am to catch our train was a problem. The receptionist was asleep, and after I woke him he started several formalities and handled them casually instead of quickly. We’d told them at check-in that we had an early train, and we could have missed it. I hope this gets corrected. He should be a little more polite and responsible, for his career and for guests too. Thanks.

We had puri, dosas and sandwiches, then finished with coffee. The food was very good and the service pretty good too. The restaurant was nicely decorated, and the portions were enough for one person. This is a review of the restaurant at OYO Kalpana Residency Inn, not the hotel. It’s very close to New Jalpaiguri Station.
