Hotel Sheen Sonmarg

There’s a nice outdoor area to sit in the sun, and the food was delicious, so we didn’t need to go elsewhere. The people were very hospitable and accommodating. We went in June, but I can imagine the snow-covered mountain right in front of me in April or October. It was a great place for family and friends, and the hotel suits are at a wonderful location. It can get very cold, so be ready for icy weather all year round. There’s no elevator, so older guests will need to use the stairs. Book a lower-floor flat for senior citizens.

The mountain views are lovely, and the hotel is in a prime location. Rooms are spacious, and the staff were courteous. There’s no fan or AC, since temperatures in Sonamarg are usually low. Still, with the weather changing, it should have at least a fan for guests who need one.

Most of the dishes listed on the menu weren’t available, and dinner arrived without plates or spoons. Ice and cold coffee weren’t available either. The worst part was when the staff, including the manager, came to my room and argued over a small stain on the bedsheet. The staff were rude and the service was very poor. I’ve never dealt with such ill-mannered people. I strongly suggest you don’t book this hotel. You’ll lose your money and, more importantly, your respect and dignity.

It was -3C when we checked in at Sonmarg, but the staff still managed to provide excellent food, hot water, and welcoming service. The room heaters worked well too. Full marks to the staff, keep up the good work.
