The meals, including breakfast, were really good, and the staff were friendly and attentive to whether we were comfortable. Our houseboat had six or seven rooms, a spacious dining room, and the basic cutlery needed for meals. It was well kept, with a spectacular view. I had a wonderful stay. Visiting Kashmir and missing a night on a houseboat would mean missing a lovely memory from the trip.

Feroz bhai deserves credit for looking after the staff. They were warm and ready to help, though there weren't many of them and we had to leave our room to find someone. Breakfast was tasty, but the complimentary meal had few choices. In the morning, local sellers arrived by shikara with handmade toys, jewellery, and other goods. The rooms feel vintage. Just keep in mind this is a stationary houseboat, not one that travels on the water. Its lower section is made of Deodar wood, which can reportedly stay in water for up to 100 years without rotting. A decent experience overall.

The bird calls and the quiet, peaceful setting around Nigeen Lake made the stay feel romantic. The view is breathtaking, and the heritage houseboats are lovely. The person serving us was especially good. A beautiful place to visit at least once in a lifetime.

I booked for one night, but the atmosphere was so lovely that I ended up staying seven days. The owner is friendly, and the service is good. There aren't many staff, which helps keep things peaceful. In the morning, the birds wake you up with their soft calls. I can't really put that feeling into words. The family cooks traditional Kashmiri food, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, and it was unbelievably delicious. It is expensive, though, even if I didn't mind paying after trying it. You can also buy pure pashmina shawls and other Kashmiri traditional antiques. A few practical things: Dal Lake is a little far away. Having your own vehicle helps, otherwise the boat staff can guide you. There are only two or three electrical outlets, and you can't take your shoes into the room. I could write a book about the stay. A must visit.

Our group of 23 stayed here and came away very happy. The place was neat and clean, and everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely worth visiting during a trip.
