If you need somewhere near the railway station, this hotel works. There are plenty of eateries, coffee bars and shops nearby, so finding food or refreshments is easy. The rooms are basic, feel like old home-style setups, and aren't well maintained. Don't expect modern facilities.
The room we stayed in was spacious, clean and neat, and there's ample car parking at this old Thanjavur hotel near the railway station. The restaurant downstairs is convenient, though its prices are a bit high. Front desk service is available 24*7. Our AC stopped working a few hours after check-in, but staff changed our room immediately. Some facilities were lacking, and better maintenance would help.
The hotel is in a prime area, with everything we needed close by, and the price was affordable. Rooms were spacious and neat, and the hospitality was good. Mr. Marreeswaran took responsibility for everything and managed things on his own.
I was put on the 8th floor, but the lifts weren't working, so I had to climb all 8 floors. Imagine doing that with elderly family members and kids. They charged 2800 for a room but said a dental kit wasn't part of the package. The bed and bedsheet were pathetic, and the room and toilet were very old. This hotel is very poorly maintained.
It's an old hotel with outdated decor and facilities, but it does the job. The room was safe, cool and spacious, and the hot showers were nice. The bed and blankets need replacing, and a mosquito repellent would be welcome. I got to speak with the owner, who seems really passionate about the place. His father built it and passed it on to him. I'm sure he'll renovate it and make it shiny.
